About Climate4Buildings

Welcome

Climate4Buildings is a product developed by Embrace Ideas, a startup working on issues of sustainability in the built environment. We believe that every project in the built environment should be grounded in site-specific climate insights.

This unlocks the potential to develop projects which require fewer natural resources, decreasing emissions footprints and enhancing user comfort via climate-specific passive design measures and related design strategies.

The Climate4Buildings Project

We believe that all designers deserve access to climate information, without having to spend days searching the web or waiting for consultants, and we strongly believe that small firms should have just as much access to this data as large firms, which may have in-house teams dedicated to researching local climatic conditions and developing appropriate strategies.

Studies related to local environment and climate have traditionally been tied to historical climatic conditions. But we live in a changing world, and believe that we should incorporate future climate predictions into the work of architects and designers.

We are working as rapidly as possible to integrate site-specific climatic conditions based on data interpolated between weather stations, allowing more accurate assessments of local climate than data that is weather-station specific. Our follow-up will be the introduction of future climate data sets for various future climate models.

We have an entire project related to risk and resiliency that we would like to add to the platform, which we believe would further strengthen early-phase design work, along with a long list of design suggestions tied to climate that we are working to provide.

Support Us

There is a lengthy list of functionality we would like to add to the Climate4Buildings platform. In order to do this, we need to grow, and are currently in a fundraising stage. To gain funding, we need support, users, paid subscribers, and investors.

On the Use of AI

While artificial intelligence (AI) has been utilized in developing some of the base code for this platform, we currently do not utilize AI for day-to-day functionality of this website.

While we support thoughtful, intelligent use of AI, we are very aware of the negative environmental impacts of data centers and other infrastructure required to support this technology, in addition to being cognizant of potentially negative social impacts of AI.

We therefore limit the use of AI where possible in our work, leveraging it only where it adds strong value, and attempting to eliminate consistent use where possible.
